Web search

Search uses a base rate plus an optional paid-engine surcharge.

How billing works

A search begins with a 1-credit base charge. Google is the only engine with a current surcharge.

  • A cache hit costs 0 credits.
  • A search with no results is fully refunded.
  • The Google surcharge is refunded if that engine fails.

Price in practice

Select Google only when its additional coverage is worth the surcharge. The surcharge is not applied merely because Google was requested; it is refunded when that engine does not return successfully.

Repeated equivalent searches can be served from cache and therefore cost no credits.
